Make These Halloween Cupcakes For Only Four Dollars

Cupcakes are such an easy treat to pull together and the perfect blank canvas for any occasion or holiday. With October being the month leading up to Halloween, my kiddos are all about that spooky life; so I brought the spooky life to some cupcakes thanks to a few fun finds at the dollar store. I am a foodie at my core and while I love creating cakes and cupcakes from scratch, I often don’t have time to bake from scratch and decorate, so semi-homemade style is just as tasty and fun while giving me a few extra minutes to decorate.

For decorating inspiration, I simply visited the Halloween aisles of my local dollar store. I found some fun monster shaped gummies, plastic eyeballs, and eventually settled on some bejeweled spider rings. Most dollar stores offer boxed cake mix and premade cans of frosting, so that’s where I grabbed mine. White frosting to dye later at home and chocolate cake mix because…well, chocolate. And I hit up the Halloween section again to find some fun cupcake liners. Four dollars and I was able to get everything I needed for these, “homemade,” Halloween cupcakes.

Once home, I baked the cupcakes according to the instructions on the box using my dollar store cupcake liners. The, using the can of white frosting, I divided the frosting into four bowls and dyed them various colors: purple, orange, teal, and blue.

I frosted the cupcakes once they were cooled.

Then dug around inside my stash of baking supplies and found some coordinating sprinkles and topped the cupcakes with them.

And then I placed a bejeweled spider ring on each of the cupcakes.

That’s all it took for these perfectly fun Halloween Cupcakes to come to life. Bright colors, creepy (but not too creepy) spiders, and cute cupcake liners make these Dollar Store Cupcakes an especially fun dessert for kids. My kiddos love when I get a little creative with food and these treats are fun to look at and even more fun to eat!
